Freshers Party turns into Rain Dance at ITM University

LawnITM University held its Freshers Party at the University Lawn on 11th August, 2011. The Freshers came immaculately dressed up for the ultimate kill. Students had decorated the stage and the entire pathway leading to the venue with innovative posters depicting the various events of the evening. The excitement was building. The venue was looking marvelous with awe inspiring lush green lawn, surrounded by the Pines swaying with the breeze. The dark and deep clouds were threatening to invade the venue.

The party began on high note. The University Music club Musictook off with stellar band performance, taking the students off their feet. The students were spell bound and appeared transfixed. The Deputy Registrar of the University had barely started his welcome address when the torrential rains lashed the venue forcing students and the staff to take shelter under the nearest trees and shelters. The rains stopped for a while and once again the party was alive. The eating stalls were thronged by the students who enjoyed whole lot of tasty stuff. The queue for the Paani Puri and Chaat was the longest. Hot sizzling large sized Gulab Jamuns were equally inviting.

Fashion showThe fashion show began with the student participants looking cool and striking beautiful. The initial introduction round was hilariously crafted by the students targeting at winning the hearts and the votes of the students and the judges. This was followed by a series of dances humbling even the best dancers of the Bollywood.

One more time, it began to pour heavily. The students started slipping on the dance floor. The rain forced students to take shelter within the university corridors which were jam packed. The sustained ferocity of down power was so high that it appeared a virtual end to the party. It was already 8 PM and the venue and the stage had been filled with water. The students were told to call it off.

The students decided to give it a try to turn the party to a rain party dance and moved outside the building to the main lawn of the party venue. The band was once again in full blast. To initiate the rain dance a Bhangra Group of the students moved on the stage and performed breathtaking Bhangra dance which was joined by nearly 400 students off the stage in the pouring rain. This was the most exciting and memorable part of the evening. The party was called off around 9 PM with thanks given to all the stage participants. All the students were also thanked for making the whole party full of joy and incident free.

Kudos Freshers and their Seniors for exhibiting high spirits and discipline!
